Homes for Heroes helps with home ownership

My father served in the South Vietnamese army along with American troops – we consider him a hero in the front lines fighting for the freedom. As a consequence, getting treated unfairly afterwards was heartbreaking. Coming from that experience growing up, it is an honor for me to work at Homes For Heroes. Our main value is to serve our heroes, who have sacrificed so much to give us the freedoms we have today.

These heroes are the very necessary backbone of our country and without them we could not function, yet it is all too common that these everyday heroes are taken for granted. At Homes for Heroes, I feel like I am making a difference by helping these people through the work that we do. Being able to give back and serve others is not only something I strongly value but I actually get to do every day through my career, for that I am truly blessed.

That’s 1,000 families that are receiving honor and appreciation in a tangible way,” McKinnies said. I believe that everyone deserves a place to call home where they can retreat, relax, and refresh. Working for Homes for Heroes has allowed me to combine my passion for homeownership with thanking and giving back to the heroes who are the backbone of our nation.

I don't know if that's from the medicine, he was on a lot of steroids. I feel like he was down for three weeks, so he has to make up that time now,” Brandon said. On Thursday, a South Bend police officer and his family got a big surprise... Now as an adult- being friends with, having a personal connection with and truly loving each and every one of our hero groups, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to finally give back to them. At Homes For Heroes I am able to work for a company that places their values in the same place that mine have been my entire life. The services and expertise provided by Bill Grant is more than your typical real-estate agent.

Homes for heroes

One thing I learned from my own experiences and from my family in military, education, first responders, and law enforcement- the ones that serve us rarely see themselves as heroes. Thinking back to my time in the hospital, I don’t remember feeling like a hero. I remember the exhaustion, the sadness for those suffering, and the fear that I would not be good enough, smart enough, or fast enough to help.

I have many uncles and cousins who served with every branch of the military. Also within my family are EMT’s and teachers which means I grew up with and am surrounded by many heroes in my life. During this time I realized I was chasing the wrong things professionally, so I chose to only pursue work where I could positively impact the lives of others. My first declared college major was education and I wanted to be a teacher/coach. Serving others was clearly important to me, but how could I do it professionally? I realized I will spend 125,000 hours working in my lifetime.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After years of living on military bases, and two deployments to Iraq, newlyweds Maria and Chris Mola have a house to make a home. They’ve paid out nearly $90 million to more than 50,000 heroes since they started. The Szuba’s are just one of the thousands of people who’ve gotten help from Home’s for Hero around the country.

During Bob’s 12-year tenure at Gander Mountain Company he was an integral part of the leadership team that grew this IPO-company to over $1.3 billion in sales with profitability. Bob began his career in public accounting and enjoyed 6 years in public accounting with D&T and PWC. I have always felt a very deep appreciation for the men and women who serve others.

My chance to serve these heroes through the home buying process is an honor. There is nothing more satisfying to me than helping people. After being an Affiliated Lender with Homes For Heroes for close to three years I feel very blessed to work with this amazing company and wonderful people. These professionals are selfless and deserve to be recognized in a special way.

The availability of high quality medical services and great school systems in Massachusetts were the foundation of our pursuit of the American Dream. The Molas say they are grateful for programs like Homes for Heroes; It made their home buying process much easier and with the money they saved, they were able to prepare for their unborn child. Their oldest child Grayson is on the autism spectrum so it’s important for them to live near resources to support him. It was in this role that I first learned of the Homes For Heroes Foundation.

I am especially grateful this program includes teachers. It was my 9th grade teacher who pulled me aside one day because he noticed I was not myself. His interest in me changed my life and helped me to get through a tough time in my family. I’m from Birmingham, AL and am a wife and mother to 2 boys. I have a background in finance and real estate and I am so excited to be joining a team that chooses to serve our heroes. My family makes up most of the heroes and the mission behind Homes for Heroes spoke to me.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to each and every hero, for all you do. My father met my mother in Italy during World War II. He was a navigator for the Army Air Corps, and she was a volunteer for the Red Cross. You could say my existence is the result of people who understood the importance of service to their country. Many of my nieces and nephews are teachers or healthcare workers, so helping the next generation of heroic people resonates with me. My volunteer work with Quiet Oaks Hospice gives me the opportunity to cook meals for patients, their families and the nursing staff. One grandfather served in WWII and the other one served in Korea.

After working with this company for three short months, my perspective on what defines my success changed. Equally as important, my career at Homes for Heroes is my way of honoring the work my mother dedicated to her community as a teacher, and my grandfather’s service to this country as a WWII Navy veteran. My mom was in the healthcare field, and she gave her life in the line of duty. Inspired by her, a great deal of my adult life was dedicated to medicine.

I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the first responders that saved my life in a horrific car accident as a teenager. Now, it is my mission to be a strong positive force in the world. To inspire others to live life to the fullest by helping them realize their true purpose and full potential. I fulfill that mission through my commitment to saying Thank You to every hero for their selflessness, compassion and courage they display and inspiring others to do the same. I would not have the opportunity to live the life I live without our heroes continued commitment to serve and better our communities each and every day and for that I am incredibly grateful.

Then after seeing the events of 911, my family and I started the Homes for Heroes program to say “thank you” to all who serve our nation and its communities. Creating this program made me feel like I was part of the recovery efforts by coming together and strengthening our communities. I love working at Homes for Heroes because I’m driven by the cause. She taught troubled youth and later became a psychiatric nurse before passing away from cancer . We met when he took over my classroom at a school for juvenile offenders, when I was leaving teaching for law school. He now works as a supervisor of education in the federal prison system, to give inmates an opportunity for successful reintegration with a GED or vocational skills.
